Another huge Summerslam match being considered

When fans think about a war in the ring a lot of instances come to mind. Fans could think of CM Punk vs Raven, Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels, Kevin Steen vs El Generico, and the list goes on. But one pair that will probably always pique fan interest is the unbelievable match-up of AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura.

These two have battled in the past but it wasn’t under a WWE banner. Their time in the ring together in New Japan was legendary and even though it’s not been confirmed Vince McMahon has seen a moment of action from Wrestle Kingdom 10 someone in WWE obviously saw the encounter because both of those guys were in WWE quicker than a hiccup after that.

WWE fans got an amazing tease between these two at Money In The Bank. The image of them standing alone in the ring was iconic. When they placed the ladder to the side in order to give them a straight shot at each other it was almost too much to take and led to one of the biggest pops of the night from the St Louis crowd.

But an actual WWE match between the two hasn’t happened yet. WWE must know how much real estate value there is with those two names on a marquee together because they’ve been keeping them away from each other for the most part. Styles and Nakamura been in tag matches on the same team but apart from their MITB encounter these two haven’t done much scrapping.

It was recently noted on Wrestling Observer Live that might be changing as WWE is considering putting these two legendary names of pro wrestling in a program with each other that will lead into SummerSlam.

If WWE does this they might be jumping the gun for two planned WrestleMania matches. The rumors were WWE was going to book Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns for the New Orleans Show Of Shows as well as Nakamura vs Styles. Now with these alleged audibles being called all over the place by WWE it looks like fans might be getting this high-profile match nine months early.
