Oba Femi answered Brock Lesnar’s open challenge for WrestleMania 42 on Monday Night Raw, powerbombing Lesnar and standing on his chest while pointing to the WrestleMania sign.
The moment came at the end of a chaotic segment that began with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman exchanging verbal shots before Lesnar cleared the ring of Rollins’ masked men. After Lesnar dispatched the group with clotheslines, German suplexes, overhead belly-to-belly suplexes, and an F-5, he and Rollins were left alone in the ring.
The lights went out. Oba Femi’s music hit.
Femi took his time making his entrance, strutting to the ring while Lesnar looked around. Femi entered the ring and the two went face to face. Rollins moved toward the center of the ring, and Lesnar backed him away. When Lesnar turned around, Femi hit him with a powerbomb, stood on his chest, and pointed to the WrestleMania sign.
The open challenge had been in place since Paul Heyman announced it weeks ago. No one on the roster had stepped up to accept until Monday night. Femi, a former two-time NXT Champion, has been positioned as one of WWE’s top rising stars. Lesnar is a former WWE Champion, Universal Champion, and UFC Heavyweight Champion.
Rollins and Heyman Promo
The segment opened with Rollins revealing himself from among his masked men and cutting a promo directed at The Vision and Heyman. Rollins said he created The Vision and he will be the one to kill it. He named Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed as being “on the shelf” and called Austin Theory and Logan Paul “peons.”
“If you stand by Paul Heyman, consider yourself marked for death,” Rollins said. “Two weeks ago, I had the satisfaction of putting a steel chair in Paul’s back. I had the satisfaction of stomping Paul’s fat head into this mat.”
Heyman came to the stage and interrupted. “I wasn’t going to come out, but I wouldn’t miss this for the world,” Heyman said. He told Rollins he was messing with him because Rollins messed with him first, then delivered the line “FA-FO, FA-FO, FA-F5,” cueing Lesnar’s entrance.
Lesnar cleared the ring of the masked men before the Femi confrontation.
