Ronnie Massaro, the brother of former WWE star Ashley Massaro, was killed on November 21st.
His childhood best friend, Keith Hanlon, detailed the incident to NY Daily News, that took the life of the 39-year-old. Ronnie was stabbed at about 9:15 p.m. outside 2 Bros. Pizza at the intersection of Eighth Ave. and W. 38th St.
Police searched for a suspect seen fleeing uptown after the attack. He had just checked out of a rehab facility in Riverhead, L.I. a few hours before he was attacked.
Hanlon told The News that Ronnie had tried to call him 45 minutes before the attack, but he missed the call.
Another close friend of the victim’s, Doreen Apicella-Marrero joins Hanlon in believing Massaro was a stranger to his killer.
“He must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Apicella-Marrero said.
Ashley Massaro was found hanging in her home in Suffolk County, NY in an apparent suicide in May 2019. Her body was found when she failed to report to work.
Back in 2016, she joined a class-action lawsuit against WWE that claimed the company was negligent and responsible for neurological injuries suffered in the ring. WWE later issued a statement on the claims.
