Asuka Is Undergoing Rehab Following Knee Surgery

Asuka has provided an update on her status after undergoing knee surgery.

This past March, fans saw her limp during the closing moments of an episode of SmackDown, as she had been teaming Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY and Kairi Sane in losses to Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Zelina Vega at WWE house shows. There was a concern that Asuka may have been dealing with an injury, as Asuka seemed to have a leg injury in the main event segment where Damage CTRL beatdown Bayley. Check out the footage of Asuka limping here.

Despite the concern, she worked matches, including at Backlash France in April, losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. She later announced she was taking a break due to the knee injury.

She recently indicated on social media that she underwent surgery and showed in the latest video on her YouTube channel of her walking into the hospital to undergo surgery. The specifics of the knee injury were not shared. Asuka noted that aside from prep, the surgery lasted 90 minutes before she was discharged from the hospital the day after her surgery and wasn’t able to walk on her own.

The doctor told her it was a success, and she is taking medication for the pain. She noted she would be going to a rehabilitation center to begin rehab. The video ended with the words, “See you soon.”

We wish her a speedy recovery.
