The status of Austin Theory in WWE is currently uncertain, as a new report from PWInsider has confirmed he has been removed from the company’s internal active roster. This news comes after Theory was written off television with an injury that also served as the catalyst for the breakup of his tag team with Grayson Waller.
Removed From Active Roster
According to the PWInsider report, WWE sources have confirmed Theory’s removal from the company’s internal list of active performers. While WWE has stated on television that Theory is injured, the specific nature of the injury is not currently known. Being removed from the active roster can often indicate a long-term absence or a potential departure from the company, but no official word has been given on his contract status.
The End of A-Town Down Under
Theory’s removal from the roster follows the abrupt on-screen split of his tag team with Grayson Waller, “A-Town Down Under.” On the July 21 episode of Monday Night Raw, Waller announced in a backstage segment that their team was finished due to Theory’s injury. Waller later took to social media to mock his former partner, claiming he had “saved” Theory’s career after he was “buried alive” by John Cena in a promo segment on the road to WrestleMania 39.
The split marks the end of a long-running partnership that saw the duo capture the WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 40 in a Six-Pack Ladder Match. The team had been teasing dissension for months prior to the official breakup, often arguing and costing each other matches. Theory’s last match was on the July 14 taping of WWE Main Event, where he lost to El Grande Americano.
With Theory now sidelined and off the active roster, his future in WWE is unclear. Grayson Waller has already begun to move forward as a singles competitor on Monday Night Raw, officially closing the book on the former championship-winning team.
UPDATE: Per Fightful Select, Theory is now listed on the injured list alongside names like Zoey Stark and Ilja Dragunov.
