Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair had a backstage confrontation after Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown went off the air.
Pwinsider.com reported the news early Saturday morning. Per the report, the issue was after Flair was said to have voiced concerns to WWE management before the show went on the air regarding the segment where the two champions exchanged the Women’s Titles as Flair, who was the Raw Women’s Champion, is on SmackDown and Lynch, who was the SmackDown Women’s Champion, is now on Raw.
Flair reportedly made her case to not be booked to look weak and she didn’t want her title reign to look weak during the segment. The segment went on as scheduled with no changes made.
During the segment, there was a moment where Flair was to hand the belt to Lynch, but she pulled it away and threw it on the mat instead, which wasn’t planned.
Sonya Deville demanded Flair to get the title and give it back to Lynch, which Flair did. When Lynch was asked to hand over her title, Lynch tossed the title at Flair. That was also not part of the plan. The segment got back on the planned track when Sasha Banks came out.
Once the show went off the air, there was a confrontation between Lynch and Flair backstage over Flair allegedly disrespecting Lynch by “trying to make her look bad.” There were also loud words exchanged between the two.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also confirmed the news. This looks like what Flair’s fiancee, Andrade El Idolo, and WrestleVotes was tweeting about.
I'm working on getting more, but PWInsider's report is in line with what I'd heard late Friday. There were disagreements with how the segment was going to go, they hadn't planned on the belt being thrown down, and there were some words exchanged backstage.
