A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided details behind the recent split of the A-Town Down Under tag team and the new alliance between Grayson Waller and The New Day on Monday Night Raw.
The Reason For The A-Town Down Under Split
According to the report from Dave Meltzer, the decision to split the team was made due to a legitimate injury to Austin Theory. With Theory set to be on the shelf for an extended period, the company chose to end the team rather than wait for his return.
“Theory is out with an injury. They decided that instead of waiting for him to return, they’d just say there was a split,” Meltzer wrote.
A New Day For Grayson Waller
The report continued, explaining the new creative direction for Waller. “And move Waller over to the New Day group to keep him on TV,” Meltzer stated. The new alliance has been seen on recent episodes of Monday Night Raw, where Waller has been involved in backstage segments with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
