Backstage news on Brock Lesnar’s new WWE deal

As previously reported, Brock Lesnar has signed a new WWE deal that goes through WrestleMania. He is not scheduled for the TLC pay-per-view next month so it looks like his last match for 2018 will be at Survivor Series against AJ Styles.

Lesnar’s new deal was finalized around 10/18, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and it happened after Vince McMahon learned that Roman Reigns would need to step away to undergo treatment for leukemia. The original plan was for Reigns to retain the title at Crown Jewel. The terms of Lesnar’s new deal are being kept a secret but what is known is that this is another short-term deal. It is not known how often Lesnar will be working on this deal between now and Mania.

Also, as previously noted, this deal allows him to work for UFC. Daniel Cormier has said that he wants the Lesnar fight before he retires in March. Dave Meltzer is reporting that UFC wants Lesnar vs. Cormier to take place on March 2nd in Las Vegas.

It will be interesting if he works on the Royal Rumble show in January. That will be a stadium show in Phoenix, AZ so from WWE’s standpoint it would make sense for Lesnar to be on that show but it doesn’t make sense for someone in a training camp getting ready to challenge for the UFC Heavyweight Title. At this point, there is no word on Lesnar’s status for the Rumble PPV.
