Backstage news on Brock Lesnar’s WWE status, AEW rumors

If you are looking to see Brock Lesnar pop up in AEW, the chances of that happening are slim.

A WWE source told the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it makes no sense to sign Lesnar to a new deal right now and the only reason to sign him right now would be to keep him from going to AEW.

There is a belief in WWE that Lesnar could, and probably would try to use AEW as leverage but the belief is that AEW would not want to pay him anything near his price tag since it doesn’t make sense for them to spend that kind of money.

Dave Meltzer noted that it would only make sense to use Lesnar on a Saudi Arabia show or at WrestleMania and the belief right now is that the Saudi Arabia show that was scheduled won’t happen this year because of the pandemic.

Chris Jericho noted on Wednesday during an interview with Sportskeeda that he doesn’t really think Lesnar is a free agent.

Jericho said, “I think it’s just another one of the dances that Vince and Brock like to have where Brock’s contract expires, Vince lets it expire, and then they stay away from each other until the next Saudi Arabia show or the next show that has people in the crowd, or WrestleMania, whatever it may be. So I don’t think Brock is really a free agent in the sense of the word, I just think he’s like currently not under contract right now.”
