As previously noted, Drew Gulak was moved back to the active roster and he is expected to be back on SmackDown this week. Gulak signed a new contract just over a week after his previous contract expired.
Dave Meltzer noted last week that Gulak was being represented by agent Barry Bloom to handle his contract talks. Bloom is a high-profile agent who has represented tons of big names in the past including Triple H, Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and many others since the 1990s.
Meltzer noted today on Wrestling Observer Radio that Gulak was not looking to do independent dates and promoters that tried to book him were under the impression that he already had a destination. That destination turned out to be WWE.
“I know people who had tried to book him for future dates because he actually was a free agent,” Meltzer said. “He could have been on Double Or Nothing. When people tried to contact him, they knew he was going somewhere because he was not interested in anything so it was pretty much assumed that it was either WWE or AEW that he was going – that he had pretty much made up his mind that he wasn’t going anywhere else.”
Money was the reason why Gulak did not sign before his previous deal expires so presumably he got a better deal this time.
