After losing the WWE NXT Women’s Title earlier this year to Raquel Gonzalez, Io Shirai went on a hiatus from TV for a few months only to return to be paired with Zoey Starks.
Shirai and Starks ended up winning the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles from Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell on the July 6th edition of NXT TV. Since that time, nearly two months have gone by and Io has yet to wrestle a match.
This has led to some fans speculating whether Io is injured. Fightful Select reported today that’s not the case. Instead, she’s said to be healthy and fine.
WWE taped several episodes of NXT TV last Tuesday from Orlando, Florida at the Capitol Wrestling Center and won’t air another live episode until September 14th, which was done so the company could upgrade the building as part of their planned changes to the brand.
The report noted that Shirai did wrestle at these tapings, so expect her to compete sometime in the next two weeks.
