Jeff Hardy confirmed in an interview with BT Sport on Monday that he had signed a new contract with WWE.
Although both Matt and Jeff Hardy signed WWE deals on the same day back in 2017, Matt was able to get out of his contract early while WWE added time to Jeff’s deal because of the time that he missed due to injury.
Dave Meltzer noted on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Hardy’s previous deal was supposed to expire in a couple of months.
Although the exact length of the deal isn’t known, WWE typically signs wrestlers to a multi-year deal. Thus, with Jeff under contract with WWE and Matt in AEW, fans will have to wait a long time to see them team up again.
“Yeah, so that pretty much…the Hardy Boyz as a tag team, I don’t want to say never, but we’re probably talking years. I don’t know if it’s a three or five-year deal, but generally WWE contracts these days are five-year deals. So that’s a long long time. He’s not going…his contract was coming due in a couple of months
The Hardy Boyz contracts started on the same day and they were supposed to end on the same day, but what happened was that they tacked so much time for Jeff’s injuries on that there was just a long gap between the ending of both men’s contracts. There was actually time tacked on to Matt’s too, but Jeff was obviously injured a lot more in the last couple of years so he had more time tacked on.”
