If you were shocked to see Kane (Glenn Jacobs) return at the end of this week’s Monday Night Raw, then you are in the same boat as many people in WWE. Kane’s return to WWE TV was kept a secret from most people in the company so that the news would not leak out. The creative team was aware of the angle involving a mystery person but they were not told that it would be leading to Kane’s return. We had speculated that it could be Samoa Joe since Joe is ready to return to action but the decision had already been made to bring back Kane. Presumably, this will play into Roman Reigns’ “retiring” The Undertaker at WrestleMania and my guess is that we’ll see a Reigns vs. Kane match at some point before Kane leaves again.
Most of the wrestlers did not see him backstage, which is usually the case when they are trying to keep a surprise under wraps. The word going around after Raw is that he will be back for a few weeks but he is not expected back on the road full-time.
Also, he is 50 years old and is more focused on life outside of WWE with his insurance business and his mayoral bid. The primary for the Knox County mayoral race is May 1, 2018, and the final election is on August 2, 2018, so don’t expect to see him around too much on WWE TV next year.
