WWE did an angle coming out of Bad Blood, which was headlined by Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns successfully beating Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. It featured the return of Jimmy Uso and The Rock.
After the show, Kevin Owens attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion in the parking lot as part of an angle after Owens had taken issue with Cody aligning himself with Reigns for the match. This is after Rhodes beat Owens several weeks ago at Bash in Berlin.
Security eventually arrived to break up the brawl while fans captured the footage on their phones and it went viral on social media. Triple H sent out the following storyline statement via Twitter:
“We are aware of the incident outside of the arena last night between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. The matter will be dealt with internally.”
PWInsider.com reports that WWE did it to make it a viral moment, as it knew fans would film the incident and share it on social media.
