Rey Mysterio and Vince McMahon were able to come to an agreement on a new deal that will keep the former WWE Champion under contract for the next few years.
The contract talks had been going on for the past few months and it all came down to money. While the financial details are unknown at this time, the length of the deal is known.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mysterio’s new deal is believed to be for three years.
This comes after Meltzer reported earlier this month that the belief was Mysterio was close to putting pen to paper to secure the new deal. Although Mysterio did stay with WWE, he did get an offer from AEW.
It was reported that AEW made an offer that equaled the WWE’s per-match offer, but the WWE offer was higher because it was for more dates.
Mysterio had been kept off WWE programming since he lost the Eye for an Eye Match to Seth Rollins at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event. During the match, Mysterio had his eye pushed into the side of the steel step.
However, he made his return this past Monday night on Raw. He’ll also be in the corner of his son, Dominik, at this Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
The son of the future WWE Hall of Famer will fight Seth Rollins in a Street Fight at this show, which will mark his in-ring debut under the WWE banner.
