Kyle O’Reilly defeated Cruiserweight Champion Kushida in a non-title match on Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT. After the match, Adam Cole brawled with O’Reilly to further build their match at the Great American Bash special.
The Diamond Mine also made their debut after this match as Roderick Strong attacked Kushida. He is joined by Tyler Rust, Malcolm Bivens, and Hideki Suzuki.
Fightful Select reported that this was a big part of NXT increasing their focus on the Cruiserweight division throughout the summer. The debut of the group has been planned for months even before Strong quit NXT in storyline a few weeks ago.
It was said, “there were actually plans to debut the stable well before, but it was moved back on more than one occasion for it to take center stage on an episode of NXT.”
While there were other members discussed for the group, at no point was Parker Boudreaux ever planned to be part of it. There was speculation among fans about this.
