For the first time since 2014, CM Punk appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw for his first promo since returning to WWE at Saturday’s Survivor Series premium live event, where he declared that he was home.
Initial reaction
As previously reported, producers, referees, staff, talent, and even head writers on the creative team were not told about Punk’s return ahead of time. The talent working the main event was informed before the bout. There are numerous talent on the roster in general upset, just as there are some excited, curious, and emotional. Punk signed a multi-year deal with WWE.
Punk said in his promo that his reception backstage was “all love” and “everybody back there is happy to see me.” He said it was “like a family reunion.”
New report
PWTorch has a report regarding the way that WWE talent treated the former WWE Champion and confirmed what Punk said was true as Punk tried to approach everybody and was “very nice” and “humble” and “in a good mood.”
One wrestler said, “But he knew he kinda had to be,” while another one noted, “He seemed humbled.” One star said he “seemed pretty positive all around, but we’ll see in a couple of months if it sticks.”
The report noted that when asking around whether people are skeptical of Punk being so friendly and nice at this point, one wrestler said “yes” and “estimated about half of the wrestlers are iffy about if this is sustainable.”
