Backstage News On Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Women’s Title Win

Tiffany Stratton became the top star on the WWE SmackDown women’s roster after becoming the WWE Women’s Champion.

During Friday’s SmackDown, Nia Jax retained the Women’s Title over Naomi. After the match, a brawl broke out between Jax, Bianca Belair, and Candice LeRae, leading to Stratton running out with her Money in the Bank briefcase. Stratton cashed in before hitting Jax with her moonsault finisher off the top rope to win the title.

Stratton held the briefcase for over 153 days. At Summerslam, Jax defeated Bayley to win the title after interference from Stratton.

PWInsider.com reports the “cash-in and title change was planned for weeks and was a closely guarded secret.” The report noted it was not known among many that the title change was coming.

The decision “was planned for the SmackDown expansion specifically to have a big moment for The USA Network, the series, and Stratton.”
