Vince McMahon was backstage for Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown at Madison Square Garden, which was not a big surprise due to the arena being considered WWE’s home venue for decades and it being close to Stamford, CT, where WWE Headquarters are located.
McMahon has been making more changes to the product since WrestleMania 39, although he’s done so mostly remotely. It is believed that McMahon’s influence on WWE creative will likely grow as the Endeavor Group’s acquisition of WWE gets closer, something expected later this year.
Pwinsider reports that they were told McMahon did not make any major changes to SmackDown, something he has been doing more often as of late at the last minute.
The report noted, “any changes were minimal as the original plans for the show stayed basically intact with the exception of some time cuts.”
As previously reported, the opening segment with The Bloodline ran longer than originally planned, leading to segments having time cut.
Pwinsider and Fightful Select both report that Triple H and Bruce Prichard were backstage. McMahon was said to have spent the entire day in his office.
