Matt Riddle went viral last week when he did a segment with Asuka on Monday Night Raw.
The United States Champion rode his scooter up to Asuka and he asked whether scooters are popular in Japan. He then forgot his lines so he apologized and walked away. To the credit of the Raw Women’s Champion, she just smiled then the show went to commercial break.
It turns out the segment was taped earlier in the day, but Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard enjoyed it so much that the decision was made to keep it in the show.
Fightful Select reported today “the original plans called for Riddle to talk about everything from Mt. Fuji to underground robot fighting in Japan.” Asuka was praised by those in WWE for her reaction to the change in the moment while Riddle was also praised.
The report also confirmed the previous report about McMahon being happy with how things turned out because it didn’t really affect anything significant.
