Backstage news on what Paul Heyman wants to change in WWE

Paul Heyman being named the Executive Director of WWE Raw was one of the biggest news stories of the year. Heyman will oversee the creative development of the show and report directly to WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Heyman wants to have WWE backstage interviews contain less “fake dialogue” and come across more realistic as there would be more consequences with the actions of stars.

This includes wins and losses mattering more than they do now. The belief is that Heyman also wants injury angles to be taken more seriously.

Meltzer noted that McMahon will allow mid-card talent to sell a beating or injury angle that they’re involved with while top stars won’t because McMahon wants to protect his top stars and not have them appearing to be weak on television.
