Backstage News On When R-Truth’s New WWE Deal Was Finalized

R-Truth returned at Money in the Bank, attacking Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena in the main event. The interference allowed Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso to defeat Cena and Logan Paul.

The appearance followed a week of fan support after R-Truth, real name Ron Killings, announced WWE was not renewing his contract. The hashtag #WeWantTruth trended online, and chants were heard at multiple wrestling shows.

Despite initial plans to let his contract expire, the massive backlash reportedly led WWE to reverse course. According to PWInsider, the deal was made over the last 72 hours, while BodySlam.net reports a new deal for a final run was finalized on Friday, just 24 hours before his return.

BodySlam.net’s report noted, “This new deal isn’t a normal active working talent deal but it gives him the opportunity for one true final run. At the post-show press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H was asked about the situation, responding, “You enjoying the show? All part of the show.”
