It was notable that Big E, who is getting a singles push, was not on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
There appears to be nothing out of the ordinary going on though. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that they just didn’t have any ideas for him so that is why he was not on the show.
Meltzer also noted that Chad Gable was also not on the show for the same reason. Gable recently dropped the “Shorty G” monicker and the idea is that he wants to be treated as a serious wrestler.
Meltzer noted that someone in WWE told him that with Big E, he could at least have been booked in a squash match last week to start up his momentum since he needs to be pushed as one of the top babyfaces on the brand because of the lack of depth on that side of the roster.
WrestlingNews.co was told that Daniel Bryan has pushed hard for WWE to do more with Gable.
