Backstage news on why the Liv Morgan-Lana lesbian storyline was dropped

On Sunday's Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez mentioned the Lana-Liv Morgan angle while discussing the angle between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

Deville has expressed to people in the company that she has wanted to do a storyline that leads to her having a crush on Mandy. Based on how things have played out on TV in recent weeks, it looks like WWE is not going in that direction.

Meltzer noted that a lesbian angle appeared to be in the cards for Lana and Liv Morgan last December but Paul Heyman had no intention for that part of the angle to continue.

Meltzer said, "from what I was told, it was Paul looking for a spot in the wedding thing to pop people but there was no plan to follow up on it."

Heyman also did this with Beulah McGillicutty and Francine in ECW to get a reaction from the crowd and the storyline was never followed up on.

The storyline between Lana and Bobby Lashley vs. Morgan and Rusev fizzled out in January and Rusev, because of a contract dispute, was taken off TV. Rusev was part of the roster cuts this week and WWE is already teasing that Lana and Lashley are about to break up.
