Backstage news on why there might not be a WWE Evolution pay-per-view this year

Ronda Rousey’s break from WWE could mean that there will not be an Evolution pay-per-view this year.

WWE has their dates booked for the rest of the year and part of 2020 but Evolution is not on the pay-per-view calendar. This is interesting because last year’s Evolution pay-per-view was done because of the backlash the company received because the female roster was not allowed to travel to the shows in Saudi Arabia. WWE will be going back to Saudi Arabia in May and early November.

As noted in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is not yet committed to an all-women’s show without Ronda Rousey on board. Rousey is scheduled to take time off because she wants to start a family. She is not advertised for shows after the post-WrestleMania episode of Monday Night Raw.

As I noted before, if Rousey is looking to start a family shortly after Mania then it likely means she will not be back in the ring until the end of the year or early 2020.
