Backstage News On Why There Weren’t Many Top Names Moved During WWE Draft

This year’s WWE Draft has come and gone, with many fans feeling let down due to what they considered to have been a lackluster edition.

All of the champions stayed on their respective brands while Roman Reigns withdrew from being drafted. There were also not a lot of moves among talent from Raw to SmackDown and vice versa, although there were some notable NXT call-ups.

Blair Davenport, Kiana James, Carmelo Hayes, Baron Corbin, and Dijak were moved from NXT to the main roster across Raw and SmackDown. Most of the top stars also stayed on the same brand they were on going into it.

WrestleVotes reported today that WWE is pleased with how it played out, and they didn’t want to shuffle the rosters too much because they were happy with the talent they had at the top of the card going into it.

The report noted that it’s expected there will be a trade or two before they lock in the rosters ahead of Monday’s deadline.
