After the ending to last week’s Monday Night Raw, it became obvious to everyone that The Shield will be teaming up at the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view. The question is why now? The reunion of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose seems like an attempt by WWE to boost ratings and attendance. A Shield reunion, in the eyes of many fans, should happen at one of their tentpole shows like Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, or WrestleMania.
Well, here’s why WWE decided to pull the trigger now. As noted on a recent Wrestling Observer Radio, there is a lack of depth at the top of the roster with Brock Lesnar and John Cena off the TV so the decision was made to reunite The Shield. That backs up what James McKenna said a couple of weeks ago. McKenna said that The Shield reunion is being done to boost ticket sales for the TLC pay-per-view. Perhaps, that is also why they are holding off Asuka’s main roster debut until the PPV as well.
We don’t know for sure who The Shield could be facing but if you are paying attention to the storylines, it sure looks like it’ll be The Miz, Sheamus, and Cesaro. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel were not considered because they are not considered credible enough for the main event slot on a pay-per-view.
However, there could be another man added to that match. Click here if you want to read more on who could be added to The Miz’ team.
