Backstage news on why WWE split up Carmella and R-Truth, couples in the Draft

The latest WWE draft is in the books after both nights took place on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown and Monday’s Raw. With the draft over, there were several moves involving stars of the company.

Just like with the Superstar Shakeup this past April, all of the top couples stayed together on the same brand.

Those stars include the likes of WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Moving from SmackDown to Raw were Charlotte Flair, Andrade, Zelina Vega and Aleister Black.

Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio WWE didn’t have any intention of splitting Andrade and Vega. It was noted that Black, Cedric Alexander, and Buddy Murphy are highly like by Paul Heyman, who serves as the Executive Director of the red brand.

Regarding the 24/7 Title, it stayed on Raw because it was originally an idea by the USA Network. This idea pitched by the network was originally intended to keep fans watching in the third hour, which is historically its lowest viewed hour of the show. Thus, R-Truth, the champion as of right, was kept on Raw.

With Corey Graves staying on SmackDown as the color commentator and being in a relationship with Carmella, that’s the reason why the pairing between R-Truth and Carmella was split up.
