Backstage news on why WWE spoiled their own Draft results

WWE Draft

As noted on Friday night, the draft results were spoiled for many fans because the draft picks that were announced on Friday Night SmackDown were in the exact order as the names listed on the draft pool page on Someone realized the error and the list was changed to have the Superstars' names rearranged in alphabetical order.

During Sunday's Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained what happened that led to the draft picks to be spoiled on

Meltzer said, "the person who gave the website the lists ... the website people were told to put these names up in alphabetical order. That's what they were told. Somehow, alphabetical order got forgotten and they put the list up as they were and that's why it ended up the way it did."

The original list that was on is not there and it now displays in alphabetical order but you can see the original list by clicking here.

Another odd thing that happened during the Draft on Friday night was when Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross were announced as separate draft picks even though WWE stated that tag teams would count as one draft pick. Meltzer noted that this went down exactly as they planned. So basically, FOX/SmackDown wasted a pick but drafting them separately instead of as a team.

Needless to say, there are many people in WWE who can't wait to get past all of the Draft stuff. As noted in a story at this link, several wrestlers were not so thrilled with the NFL spots from FOX Sports.
