Backstage News On Why WWE Star Was Written Off TV

Update: Andrew Sports Medicine noted on X that Ivar is working with them to overcome a spinal injury. Fightful reports that it’s a legitimate injury and not a work. It was said, “Ivar has long wrestled as if he’s on borrowed time after his double fusion surgery.”

Original: Recently, WWE has been announcing injuries to its stars, with several of them being pulled from planned bouts.

Due to injuries, WWE pulled Bobby Lashley and Zelina Vega from the King and Queen of the Ring Tournament. Asuka recently announced that she would be out of action as well.

On Thursday, WWE confirmed Ivar was sidelined with an injury, causing plans to change as he was originally slated to face Tyler Bate on WWE Speed next Wednesday and a triple-threat match on WWE NXT next week, where he was replaced by Gallus’ Joe Coffey. Apollo Crews will replace him in the WWE Speed match.

WWE took him off television this past week on NXT when Gallus attacked him and Wes Lee to close the show. This led to fans wondering why he was written off the television and if it could actually be injury-related.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported, “He’s just being given time off because he’s been working so hard of late, but it’s nothing serious and just an angle.”

According to CageMatch.net, so far this year, he has worked a total of 20 matches where he has gone 10-10. It’s unclear when he will return to WWE television.
