WWE officially announced during the Kentucky Derby on Saturday that WrestleMania 41 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 19th and 20th from Allegiant Stadium.
WWE will host The World fan access event, SmackDown/Hall of Fame, NXT, and Monday Night Raw during the weekend as well. This was a change from Minnesota being the frontrunner to host the weekend.
It will happen on Easter weekend, and it led some fans to wonder why WWE would hold it then due to so many people celebrating. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed why the event is being held later in April rather than in late March/early April.
Vegas wanted it because they wanted them in when it traditionally is not a good weekend for tourism. That’s the reason they wanted them in because they wanted them in on a weekend that’s not good for tourism. So they’ll have a great weekend because lots of people are going to come in. So that was the reason that it was that weekend. You know, WWE just wanted to make sure that they were away from the Final Four. There were two dates noted. That was the first weekend of May, and then it was Easter weekend. And you know, traditionally, WWE has always avoided Easter, but the city of Las Vegas wanted Easter. That’s the deal. I’m sure they’re super excited about Allegiant Stadium,” Meltzer stated.
