Backstage News On Planned Title Match At WWE Night Of Champions

Jade Cargill came up short in her bid to reclaim her title from Rhea Ripley at Clash in Italy, but WWE reportedly has significant plans lined up for “The Storm” across the next two premium live events.

According to TRNBCKL Gold, the long-term goal is to build toward a Jade Cargill vs. Charlotte Flair showdown at SummerSlam. Per the report, Flair’s interference in the Clash in Italy match, which helped cost Cargill against Ripley, was a deliberate step in that slow-burn build. A clash between the two has felt inevitable for some time given their similar size and presence.

Before that, however, Cargill reportedly has another title opportunity on the horizon. The same sources indicate that Cargill is likely to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s United States Championship at Night of Champions, which takes place next weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If that match is indeed the plan, the report suggests tonight’s SmackDown should begin setting it up.

A win would add another piece of gold to Cargill’s resume as she works her way back toward the top of the division. Cargill is a former WWE Women’s Champion, having lost the title to Ripley at WrestleMania 42, and a former Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Bianca Belair.

As with any reported plans, none of this is confirmed, and creative direction can always change.
