Backstage News On Ridge Holland’s WWE Contract Before He Was Released

A new report from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio has clarified the contractual status of Ridge Holland, revealing that the recently released star was on an “NXT money” contract, not a more lucrative main roster deal. Holland announced that WWE would not be renewing his contract when it expires on November 14, a decision made while he is sidelined with a serious foot injury that resulted in surgery.

“With Ridge Holland, I know people have been saying he was making main roster money, he wasn’t. When they sent him back to NXT and he was there for years, I think, a couple of years at least, he was making NXT money. He was not making main roster money anymore,” Alvarez stated. “So it’s not like he’s making some giant main roster contract. He was making NXT money and they won’t even pay that during the time that he’s out with this injury.”

Holland had been with WWE since 2018 and had main roster experience, including being a part of the 2022 WarGames match at Survivor Series. However, he had been primarily featured on the NXT brand since December 2023. This last run in NXT was a significant one, as he captured the NXT Tag Team Championship with Andre Chase as a member of the popular Chase U faction, a group he would later turn on and force to disband.

During a dark match with Moose at a TNA television taping, Holland suffered a Lisfranc injury to his foot, which required surgery. As he now prepares for a life after WWE, the former rugby player has announced his intention to launch his own online coaching business to support his family.
