Backstage Reaction To Dijak’s WWE Departure

In a stunning move due to it being unexpected, Dijak has announced that his last day under a WWE contract is today, and WWE never negotiated with him. They told him they would not renew his deal at the eleventh hour.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reports Dijak was informed of the news following his WWE Speed match with Xavier Woods that was filmed in the last two weeks. It’s unclear when they decided not to renew it. Dijak said in an interview with the outlet that his theory is that WWE had planned to let his deal wind down for a while.

Fightfu’s Corey Brennan was told that sources said that Dijak was well-liked and praised by officials in the company. They were told NXT head of creative Shawn Michaels was a big supporter of Dijak’s, although they did have minor disagreements about creative differences in the past. Dijak said Michaels called him directly to welcome him back to the NXT brand, where Dijak would fly for weeks to get training in as he lives in New Hampshire.

They were left unanswered when looking into why Dijak was never used on the main roster, although talent often expressed their surprise that Dijak wasn’t a regular on TV. Dijak said he could tell something was afoot when he wasn’t included in the plans for WWE Raw just weeks after being moved up to the main roster.

Dijak was not brought to Raw events for several weeks at a time, and his plans were often shifted around between Main Event and Speed tapings, with no plans to use him on Raw. No creative plans were in place when he was called up to Raw.

The source said, “that early negotiations had begun recently and that they were positive preliminary negotiations before official negotiations began.” However, once those talks died down, there was no further talk until they told him they wouldn’t renew his deal.

Those who spoke with Fightful were shocked that WWE did not attempt to negotiate with Dijak. One former WWE talent noted that 20 years ago, Dijak “would have had a job till his legs fell off.” Dijak is said to have a lot of interest in and out of pro wrestling.
