WWE booked a big match between Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston with title implications on Monday’s episode of Raw.
The match was the main event with the winner being crowned as the #1 contender for the WWE Title, held by Bobby Lashley. Due to the finish of last week’s match with both stars, WWE had authority figure Adam Pearce note that if Lashley got involved then he would be suspended for 90 days.
In the end, McIntyre went over and will challenge Lashley for the strap at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.
Pwinsider.com reports McIntyre ended up with a rough-looking bruise above his right eye as it came from a stiff superkick delivered by Kingston.
Regarding the reaction from those backstage, it said to be a lot of people were talking up what a war McIntyre and Kingston put themselves through.
