Backstage WWE news on Drew McIntyre’s neck injury

In an update to the story from PWInsider, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Drew McIntyre has been dealing with neck pain for some time.

Meltzer noted that the hope is that the time off will allow him to heal up and hopefully he won’t need major surgery. He still needs to be checked out so it is too soon to know if or how long he will be out of action.

As previously noted, the backstage attack from Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss at WWE Day 1 was done as a cover to explain McIntyre’s absence from television.

McIntyre was scheduled for house show matches against Roman Reigns that would have presumably led up to a match at the Royal Rumble. As seen at Day 1, the plans for the top matches have changed and WWE is now building towards WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley and it’s unclear what is next for Roman Reigns as he is currently at home recovering from COVID-19.

When McIntyre returns, he has a match locked in with Corbin before he moves onto his next feud.
