Backstage WWE reaction to CM Punk’s Raw visit

CM Punk shocked a lot of people in both AEW and WWE when he showed up to WWE Monday Night Raw in Chicago this week.

While backstage at the show, Punk spoke with several wrestlers, including clearing the air with The Miz and briefly spoke with Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

As previously reported, Punk flew with WWE talent from Florida as he was doing commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships over the weekend and decided to go to Raw because it was in Chicago.

He entered the venue with WWE talent and stayed in the common area before he was asked to leave by security, with many thinking it was a Vince McMahon call for him to leave. He wasn’t trying to test the waters for a return, but rather just making amends for past issues.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE talent thought it was weird for him to be there.

Meltzer wrote, “WWE talent generally thought it was weird he was there but was asked to leave relatively quickly. Some thought it was a publicity stunt, and some thought he was looking to get back in.”

It should be noted that legally, Punk can’t return to WWE because he has years left on his AEW contract.

Punk is expected to make his AEW return on the June 17 premiere episode of AEW Collision.
