Liv Morgan says her upcoming film, “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo,” will show WWE fans a side of her they have never seen before, with the movie set to hit theaters in September. Speaking on Director’s Cut Radio, Morgan discussed the project, which she filmed in Japan last year during a stretch away from WWE television.
“Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, I filmed in Japan last year,” Morgan said. “It’s going to hit theaters in September. I was very excited about the project. I learned a lot and I feel better after the fact, having the experience.”
Morgan said the opportunity to work alongside established film industry veterans was a big part of what made the experience valuable. “I was lucky to be in the room with all of these incredibly talented veterans of the film industry,” Morgan said. “The WWE audience is going to see me in a way that I think, perhaps, they never thought they’d see me. I would tune in.”
The film was directed by Takashi Miike, a Japanese filmmaker known for his extensive catalog spanning multiple genres across several decades. No official premiere date has been announced beyond the September theatrical window.
Morgan has prior acting experience, having appeared in the Chucky television series and the film The Kill Room. Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo represents her most significant film role to date and her first major international production.
On the wrestling side, Morgan is set to challenge for the WWE Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 42, where she will face current champion Stephanie Vaquer. It’s unclear which night the bout will appear on the card for WrestleMania 42, which takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
