WWE officials decided to make a change with the authority figure on their flagship show, Monday Night Raw, once they removed WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle as the General Manager. The change happened on the August 20 episode of Raw when Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon announced that she would send Angle on “vacation” and at the same time, revealed that Baron Corbin would be acting GM in Angle’s absence.
Since then, Corbin has been positioned as one of the top heels on the television show. This decision hasn’t come without any criticism from WWE fans. However, despite this negative feedback, there is one big supporter of Corbin in this role, and that’s WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
Corbin talked about playing the role and the reaction to the job that he’s doing from McMahon during a recent appearance on Booker T’s Heated Conversations podcast.
“They’re letting me have fun with it and doing it my way and as for me. And Vince (McMahon) loves it,” he said. “For the last four weeks, I’ve been the first 15-minutes of Raw. That’s crazy. That’s the John Cena spot and Roman Reigns spot. And I’m doing it. It’s a great opportunity, and I love the challenge. Right now, people hate me for it, and I love it. They despise that I’m on their TV six or seven times a night. If they hate me that much, they’re following everything I do.”
