Becky Lynch will defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca at WWE Clash in Italy on Sunday, May 31, following a disqualification finish at tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on Peacock that set the stage for the title match.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event from the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lynch and Ruca met in what had been officially designated a non-title match despite weeks of back-and-forth confusion over whether the championship would be on the line. Late in the match, Lynch avoided a clean finish, dragging referee Jessika Carr into the path of the Sol Snatcher. Carr called for the bell, awarding Ruca a disqualification victory. Lynch then rushed the ring and launched a post-match attack on Ruca.
The angle served its purpose. WWE Clash in Italy is now confirmed to feature the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line between the two.
The feud began on the May 18 episode of Raw, when Ruca interrupted Lynch backstage and challenged her to a match. Lynch came to the ring and accepted, but made clear the title would not be on the line. WWE briefly advertised the SNME bout as a title match before Lynch addressed the confusion on social media, insisting Ruca had done nothing to earn a shot at her title and that the match would remain non-title. The DQ finish and post-match beatdown at SNME changed the equation.
Ruca is 2-0 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, having also defeated Bayley at the December 2025 edition of the show.
WWE Clash in Italy takes place Sunday, May 31 at Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. The show airs at 2 p.m. ET and 11 a.m. PT. In the United States it streams on E! and internationally on Netflix, excluding select markets. The event is presented by Riyadh Season.
