Becky Lynch has confirmed that a WWE WrestleMania singles match with Charlotte Flair remains a compelling possibility, saying the interest and energy between the two never fades and that she personally relishes every opportunity to compete against her longtime rival.
Speaking on the Cheap Heat podcast, Lynch was asked whether she and Flair will ever have a one-on-one WrestleMania match, a notable gap given the depth of their history together. The two have competed at WrestleMania in multi-person matches but have never met in a straight singles encounter at the event.
“I don’t see why not,” Lynch said. “I would say it’s always on the docket. Anytime we come back to fight each other, there’s always killings, and there’s always interest, and there’s always energy. People always want to see us beat the bejesus out of each other. And isn’t that a fun place to be, because I love beating the bejesus out of her.”
Lynch’s comments come after Charlotte Flair named the Four Horsewomen as her Mount Rushmore of women’s wrestling in a separate interview on Complex Graps, a choice Lynch endorsed warmly while using it to make a broader point about the group’s legacy.
“I can’t disagree, that’s a great answer,” Lynch said. “We changed the game. I think this is the first year in ten years when you haven’t had one of the Four Horsewomen in one of the world title matches. But you’ve got me in the Intercontinental title match, and that’s more important, more interesting, bigger, better represented than the world titles have been.”
Lynch and Flair have had several memorable matches, including their triple threat with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35, which served as the main event of that show. Despite competing against each other dozens of times, a clean one-on-one WrestleMania meeting between the two has yet to take place. Lynch is currently set to challenge AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42.
