Becky Lynch Proposes Name Change For WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title

Becky Lynch believes her recent championship victory warrants a rebranding of her newly won title. On the January 5 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Lynch challenged Maxxine Dupri for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Lynch won the match and reclaimed the title, though she used the ropes to secure the pinfall, solidifying her status as a heel on the red brand.

Following the controversial win, Lynch took to social media to gloat about her performance. In a post made Tuesday afternoon, she claimed that her phone has been blowing with calls from high-profile figures praising her victory. She went a step further by suggesting that because she represents everyone, the specific regional designation of “Intercontinental” is no longer good enough.

“My phone has been blowing up with calls from the BIGGEST celebrities, MASSIVE sports stars, dignitaries from all over the world CONGRATULATING me and THANKING me for beating Maxxine last night,” Lynch wrote in characher. “As YOUR Intercontinental champion, I represent each and EVERY one of you (even my HATERS)!!! MANY people are saying I’m the greatest champion in the WHOLE GALAXY!!! THEY should rename it the GALACTIC CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Something to look into.”

The victory over Dupri marks another title reign for Lynch, who continues to be a focal point of the women’s division. It’s unclear whether WWE is planning a third match between Dupri and Lynch.
