Becky Lynch is once again the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. “The Man” defeated Maxxine Dupri on Monday Night Raw to capture the title for the second time, ending Dupri’s reign after just under two months.
Match Recap
The championship match was a technical affair from the opening bell, with both competitors immediately trading submission attempts. Lynch sought an early Dis-Arm-Her, while Dupri countered into an ankle lock. The action briefly spilled to the outside, where the champion utilized her athleticism to drive Lynch into the barricade and apron.
Back inside the ring, Lynch took control with a Bexploder suplex and a leg drop from the turnbuckles. Dupri rallied, delivering a fisherman’s suplex and a sit-out backbreaker for near falls. The closing sequence saw Lynch execute a superplex into a rolling DDT. When Dupri countered a powerbomb attempt into another ankle lock, Lynch rolled through the hold and secured the pinfall, controversially using the ropes for leverage to steal the victory.
Gunther vs. AJ Styles Official for Next Week
Earlier in the night, a tense backstage segment set the stage for a major clash next week. Ivy Nile was shown complaining to General Manager Adam Pearce about her standing in the title picture, refusing to go to the “back of the line.” Pearce deferred, insisting they wait for the results of the upcoming matches.
The conversation was interrupted by Gunther, who demanded a match against AJ Styles. Styles immediately appeared to confront the “Ring General,” mocking him by asking if he was going to “complain to the boss or stand and fight.” Following the verbal exchange, Gunther demanded the match take place next week, and Pearce officially booked the bout for the January 12 episode of Raw.
