Becky Lynch shares two names she rejected before picking current WWE moniker

Becky Lynch, real name Rebecca Quin, took part in an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated where she looked back on two names that WWE had pitched to her before picking her current moniker.

This is where she recalled how she was coming up with her name and thought of several Irish names that she thought was cool. She tried to have her last name be the first name of her fictional name. She came up with Quin Chulainn because it’s based on the mythological person from Irish mythology.

There were two names that WWE had pitched to her, which were Madeleine and Robin Daly.

“They wanted a name associated with my own name, like Rebecca,” said Lynch. “So I became Becky, and two of the names that came back to me were Becky Lynch and something like Madeleine. I was like, ‘I didn’t even submit that, I don’t know how it got in there.’ It made me think of that TV show Madeleine.

Anyway, I said no to that, and the other name that came back was Robin Daly. I actually did like that, but I thought it would be better to have a part of my own name in there, so Becky Lynch it was.”

Lynch had to vacate the WWE Raw Women’s Title to Asuka on the same episode and segment on Raw in which she revealed that she was pregnant.

The baby, which is due in December, is the first child for Lynch and her fiance, Seth Rollins.
