Becky Lynch speaks out on the way women are portrayed on WWE television

The New Day, Becky Lynch, AJ Styles and Corey Graves were part of the Mattel WWE Panel at Comic-Con San Diego on Thursday. Lynch said that she is honored to be the first woman to be drafted to Smackdown and she’s interested in what they will do with the titles since Charlotte holds the title. She wondered if that means that she will have to go to Raw to attack Charlotte.

Becky was asked what she would change about the Women’s division. She said, “I think sometimes women, we’re depicted a little bit as catty, and we all secretly hate each other. I think I’d change that. I think sometimes the storyline is as simple as we’re just going to be the best and we’re going for the championships and we don’t all have to secretly hate each other and attack each other consistently. You gotta overcome things and that’s fine. I would like there to be consistently more women’s storylines going on at the same time.”

She added, “here’s how i thought of it in NXT. It wasn’t this big freaking Divas revolution – if you want to call it that.  It was guerrilla warfare. That was how we got to where we are now. It’s not throwing us all in there in a bunch of random tag team matches and being like ‘here, there’s girls, we’re doing things with them.’ It’s not that. It’s just that we need equal opportunities. We can wrestle like the lads. We can do things like the lads do.” She said that she just wants WWE to let them do their thing without making a big deal about it.

The Q&A also features the New Day announcement regarding Booty O’s cereal. Thanks to Ringside Collectibles, you can check out the entire Q&A below (Becky’s comments are at the 28:00 mark):
