Becky Lynch was keeping a close eye on the Women’s Royal Rumble match as she could’ve ended up facing the winner of the bout, which ended up being Ronda Rousey.
Earlier in the night, Lynch successfully retained the Raw Women’s Title over Doudrop. Rousey’s return marked her first match since WrestleMania 35, which ironically also featured Charlotte Flair and Rousey.
In an interview after the show, Lynch spoke about Rousey’s WWE return and a possible singles match with the former Raw Women’s Champion.
“Welcome back, Ronda,” Lynch said in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “I know how hard it is to come back as a new mother, I think it’s fantastic she’s back. And she has a lot to avenge. I’m still holding on to that championship she gave me three years ago.
“Since that time, I’ve gone off, had a child, came back better than ever, and defended my belt left, right and center. If I were her and I was just dipping my toes back in, I wouldn’t go for the main course. I’d start with an appetizer, like a shrimp cocktail, before I went for the steak and potatoes. But if she would like to test herself against me, then by all means. I welcome her with open arms.”
All signs point to Rousey challenging Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 38, but a match between Rousey and Lynch seems inevitable.
