The Bella Twins Reveal When They Found Out About WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Shot

Nikki Bella has revealed that she and Brie were informed about their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship opportunity on the same day they appeared on SmackDown, with the news coming just hours before the match was set up. Speaking on the Nikki and Brie Show, Nikki described the sequence of events that led to one of the more surprising moments in recent SmackDown history.

“Brie and I had been so eager to get back on TV since Brie came back at the Royal Rumble, and then we came back in Phoenix, Arizona, which was incredible,” Nikki said. “There was nothing like causing chaos. And we found out literally that day, ‘Oh, by the way, next week you have a championship match for the tag titles.’ Like, what? Wow.”

The Bella Twins appeared on the March 13 episode of SmackDown in Phoenix, Arizona, where they inserted themselves into the Women’s Tag Team Championship match between The Irresistible Forces and the team of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. The match was thrown out and the resulting brawl set up a title match for the following week.

The Bella Twins are now set to challenge Nia Jax and Lash Legend for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on this Friday’s SmackDown at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
