Despite CM Punk losing his MMA debut to Mickey Gall by first round submission back in September at UFC 203 in Cleveland, Ohio, there is still interest in Punk from other MMA promotions. UFC President Dana White has stated that he isn’t sure what Punk’s future holds in the promotion but that they would talk and Punk noted before UFC 203 that he signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC so obviously, he is still under contract with them. As of now, the belief is that Punk will fight at least one more time for UFC.
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker spoke with Newsweek this week and during the interview, he commented on Punk’s future in MMA. Coker said that he would be interested in signing Punk when he is no longer under contract with the UFC. “If he was free from any [contractual] obligations and he wanted to fight under Bellator, we would definitely love to have a conversation with him. I believe he’s still under contract.”
Coker has been open to signing names like Alberto Del Rio and there have been talks with Ryback so I am not surprised that they would want Punk. At this point, Bellator would be interested in signing anyone that can draw ratings for them on Spike TV but you can cross Punk’s name off until he and UFC part ways.
