“He Is The Best Point Guard”: Peter Rosenberg Praises Joe Tessitore’s Commentary

WWE commentator Joe Tessitore received significant acclaim during the latest episode of the Cheap Heat podcast, with the hosts identifying him as a transformative figure in the current broadcasting landscape. Host Peter Rosenberg, who works alongside Tessitore on WWE pre-show panels, offered high praise for Tessitore’s ability to facilitate conversation and elevate his broadcast partners.

“He is the best point guard that I’ve maybe ever worked with,” Rosenberg stated. “He empowers me and Big E so much, like, coaches us the right way… He’s flawless.”

Rosenberg highlighted the difficulty of transitioning from traditional sports to professional wrestling, citing previous broadcasters who struggled to adapt. He mentioned Adnan Virk and Jimmy Smith as examples of talented professionals who could not find their footing in the unique environment of WWE.

“He did the impossible. They have brought really good broadcasters in to try their hand at WWE… and yet there was something that just didn’t connect,” Rosenberg observed. “No one has pulled off what Tessitore pulled off in going from the sports guy to wrestling guy completely seamlessly.”

Co-host Dip echoed these sentiments, suggesting that Tessitore has already become integral to the product. “I can’t imagine wrestling without him now,” Dip said. “I think he’s like, permanently implanted in my brain at this point.”

The discussion also touched on Tessitore’s future within the company. Rosenberg noted that while Michael Cole currently handles the play-by-play duties for Premium Live Events (PLEs), Tessitore is poised for a larger role.

“We haven’t even gotten [there]… Joe Tess, I believe, has never called a match on a PLE,” Rosenberg pointed out. “We’re going to get this next iteration of Joe Tess when he gets to call the big PLE’s down the line.”

The segment concluded with the hosts agreeing that Tessitore represents a major asset for WWE’s presentation moving forward.
