As we've noted, a huge women's fight went down in the UFC this past weekend. Amanda Nunes became the first-ever female dual-weight champion in UFC history when she knocked out Cris Cyborg in under a minute. Now, "The Lioness" is the UFC's women's 135 and 145-pound champion. Interestingly enough, Nunes and Cyborg are two women that WWE NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler has faced before in MMA.
Baszler lost both fights, the first to Cyborg in July of 2008 via second-round knockout, and the next to Nunes in March of 2015 via first-round knockout. Currently, Baszler is scheduled to defend her NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix against Bianca Belair.
Shortly after the fight between Nunes and Cyborg on Saturday, Belair responded to a Tweet from Baszler, who was discussing the UFC 232 PPV:
"Awww stop it Shayna I just watched the women that y'all ran away from... BUT I will do their work for them at #NXTTakeover Phoenix"
"Ran away? I’ve literally been in the cage w/both of them. How many fights do you have again?"
"...If this counts... then you got me. I apologize. See you in Phoenix"
